While waiting for the sunshine to break through I had a morning of travel admin. I then walked down Lincoln Road to the ocean and along the boardwalk, stopping for a glass of water and a pralines & cream at Haagen Daas on Ocean Drive. I'm now headed towards a classic American Diner called 11th Street Diner. It's the real deal, a metal trailer/carriage.
A while later... I'm sat at the bar area as per the movies, listening to rock n roll, while supping a root beer float. Can't get more American than that! I then wandered down Washington Avenue between 11th and 6th street checking out various stores enroute. I picked up a cab the rest of the way to South Pointe, the southern most point of Miami South Beach. The sun was setting and lots of people were out for their Sunday evening constitution. As I stood on the beach at the headland a massive Disney cruise liner was being escorted out of port into the ocean. It was so close you could touch it, and it moved surprisingly fast.
At 1st Street on Ocean Drive I stopped at Starbucks for a coffee. It was smarter than other stores...something to do with the location I think... close vicinity to Continental, Marriott, etc. The shops stay open late on Sundays here, so I walked back towards my hotel stopping at various shops to do some Christmas shopping. My legs feel like I've covered some ground today. Good to walk off the calories I'm consuming!
