More Oxford updates!!
Tuesday we went on a tour of Oxford Castle with one of the Student Assistants. We watched videos on it about who first occupied it and what not. Up until 11 years ago it was a fully functional prison! That was kind of creepy! They had different rooms we could go in where we could see what a jail cell was like and the torture devices they used on the inmates....ew. Some of the things ppl would go to jail for were so little...like stealing an apple??
After the castle tour Bryony (student assistant) took us to a cocktail bar by the Castle called HA! HA!. Ryan, Kelly, and I split a pitcher of a fruity sort of Long Island Iced Tea. Then we came back to Jesus College, napped and headed to the Goose for dinner. At the Goose you could get a sandwich, fries, and a pint of beer for 3.99 REALLY cheap! After the Goose we went to two pubs that were on our poster and our professors met up with us at one of them! They told us other students were at the Jam Factory so we followed them there. At the JF I drank pear beer! really good :) Then it was off to the Purple Turtle to end the night.
Wednesday RIGHT after class about 18 of us got on a train to London. We purchased tickets to see WICKED! By far one of the coolest plays ever...besides Lion King! It is the 'back story' to Wizard of Oz. Yes grandma I watched the whole thing too! You see how the witches got to be they way they were, how the monkeys got wings and so on. If/when it comes to Omaha you have to go grandma! I will of course accompany you! We got chills the voices were so good! Way better than Chicago!
After the musical we met up with the rest of the Nebraskans and went to the Globe theatre to see Loves Labour's Lost. We were sitting behind a pole and we couldn't hear very well so we didn't enjoy the experience as much as we could have...so we split at intermission and found a pizza joint! Yesterday we had High Tea. OMG so great! We all dressed up and went to the Old Parsonage Hotel for about 5 different types of tea, sandwiches, scones, pastries, soooooooooooo good! Dr. Horsewood met up with us there and he and Aimee took us to a really nice cocktail bar for happy hour. We had some REALLY fancy drink! It was cool watching the bartenders make all the drinks too!
Lately lots of Nebraskans have been gettign REALLY sick...something contaigous too so they have to stay in there rooms alone...They assured us it is NOT FOOT IN MOUTH...One girl has been in Dublin this whole time and just got back yesterday--she had ecoli...but everyone seems to be getting better now!
miss you all !
