Hello all! Soooo much to say! First, I apologize for not blogging since last week! We have been going NON stop and having the time of our life! I thought travelling before was a blast and this is even more fun! I will try and pick up from last Thursday and fill you all in on what went on!
Thursday we had an extra class because our professor was going to be gone on Friday, so we ate lunch took naps and headed to class at three. After that we all decided it would be best to go out! We went to the Goose (cheapest bar we have been to yet) and Club Escape. It was so fun! We all danced the night away and Kelly and I even had some cosmos! Yummy!! Friday morning came QUITE early for all of us! We had breakfast, went to class, and then it was off to Pizza Hut! None of us felt very good and we decided some greasy American pizza couldn't hurt! After lunch we all went back and took naps. Ryan and I didn't set alarms and when we finally woke up we realized we had slept for over 4 hours and slept through dinner! For some reason almost EVERYTHING closes at 6 here so we had a hard time finding a sandwich shop! After eating we came back to the college and got ready. The student directors had a quiz planned for us in the JCR (junior commons room--we hang out there almost everynight! they have a big screen, satellite, and a small bar). I was a little slow so I didn't make it to the first part of the quiz but I helped Ryan's team! There were teams of 5 and the girls asked us questions about the UK, pop culture, sports, history, random stuff like that. After the quiz (Ryan's team didn't win) we all headed to a bar called FILTHE....sounds cool huh? It actually wasn't too dirty...but it was SO loud! We had to leave b/c we couldn't even here ourselves SCREAM to oneanother!
Saturday morning we all met at 9 am to head to London. We had 2 charter buses which was REALLY NICE. They dropped us of in Trafalgar Square and we had about 5 hours to do whatever we wanted! Kelly, Joni, Corey, Ryan, Justin, Phillip, and I went and saw Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster, Tower Bridge, and London Bridge. As we were walking around I kept saying 'look kids there's big ben, parliament' over and over...Ryan is the only one that got it! Just like the movie!
We all gathered in the West End at Cambridge Theatre and went and saw Chicago...Kind of ironic to go all the way to London to see Chicago ;)! It was a great performance and I of course LOVED the songs! But, being that we only had a few hours of sleep we all dozed a bit! After the play we headed to a mexican restaurant! We craved it so much! Ryan and I got chimichangas and we split a pitcher of Margaritas with Kelly and Joni! On the way home three boys from Nebraska missed th bus but, they made it back safely! Ryan Blumkin had to go to the bathroom on the bus ride home so he had to pee in a water bottle! He had stage fright so he put an umbrella over him! It was one of the funniest things ever! That night we all decided to stay in since we were tired and it was raining a lot. So, I took my wedding magazines over to Kelly and Joni's room and while we looked through them Corey, Justin, and Ryan all shaved their heads!! Phillip came over later and we all watched Eurotrip.
Sunday morning we walked around Oxford a bit and Joni, Kelly, and I bought a pub crawl poster. It has 63 of the best pubs in Oxford and once you go to them you color in the pub....We only have 2 weeks left so we'll see if we can get them all done! Kelly, Ryan and I went to the simpson's movie that afternoon. We bought the 'first class' seats! We actually had assigned seats! The movie was funny and we all had a good time. Sunday night Kelly, Joni, Corey, Phillip, and I went to 5 of the pubs on our poster. One of them, c*** & Camel, had fishbowls! I thought of you Adria!! We only had one drink at each pub so we could go to as many as possible!
Monday morning we had class as usual and my toe was finally healed! (For those of you that didn't know I had an ingrown toe nail and it got infected...My big toe was the color of a plum, tender, sore, and very swollen...but I got lots of medicine and I'm as good as new :)!!) Monday afternoon we went to a fabric store after lunch. We organized a toga party for Monday night! We planned on using our bed sheets but the maids wouldn't let us so we all went to a fabric store and bought crazy material! I had green satin and leaves in my hair. Ryan had one of the best togas!!! His was blue satin with red and white stripes! Before we cut the fabric he looked like a modern day Statue of Liberty! We had such a great time! Even the student directors came to our toga party in the JCR. It was a blast! Everyone went crazy and had the funniest togas! After hanging out in the JCR the student directors told us we were going to Bridge! Bridge was the night club we went to a few days ago--it is 3 floors and crazy fun. So 50 Nebraskans in there satin and rainbow colored togas went to a hip hop night club!! The girls had talked to the managers of the Bridge and we got discounts if we were wearing togas! It was such a good time!
Everyone was very quiet in class today :) but we've had a lot of fun looking at all the pictures! Ryan is playing rounders right now and I am doing our laundry. We are going on a ghost tour of Oxford tonight and then we plan on just going to a few pubs...I am dance clubbed out!
We have been having a great time thus far! We are sending another wave of postcards here soon!
I feel as though all I have blogged about is our nightlife...so I guess I should talk about class a bit! We are studying Thatcher for the most part this week and it has been pretty interesting. Holmes and Horsewood are probably the 2 best professors I have had in college. They are so passionate and informed on EVERYTHING! They each have a great sense of humor too!
It has been nice weather here lately (the past 2 days) about 65 and sunny! The other day we took our group photo (boys wore suits and girls wore dresses) We just got them back today! They are matted and everything!
e-mail us! message us! we miss you all!
Hope all is well at home and you are getting your much needed rain! We are going to the horse races tomorrow and then Dublin on Thursday. Ryan and I might try to golf one day in Dublin!
We're excited!
Talk to you all soon!
