Hello all!
Happy Bastille Day from Paris!!! We arrived in Paris yesterday afternoon. From Barcelona we took a train to Girona Spain...and hung out in the hotel (not to exciting) then the next morning at 6 am we flew to Paris.
We met up w/ Kelly, Joni, Derek, and Corey at the laundry mat by our hotel and washed clothes! It feels sooooo good to have clean clothes! We were getting to the point that we almost had to turn our underwear inside out! Yesterday afternoon we all took the metro too the arc de triomphe. It is the biggest arc de triomphe (yes there is more than one!) in the world! It is also surrounded by the world's biggest round about (in our opinion...we didn't read that in a book) after taking some cool pictures on the outside and seeing the eternal flame of the unknown soldier we went inside. We climbed the billion and three (okay maybe is was only like 300 but that is a TON of spiraling steps) steps to the top. The view from the top was absolutely amazing. Each city we go to I think I see the prettiest thing I've ever seen! We saw ALL of Paris. the eiffel tower was so pretty! Then we walked the billion and three steps back down.... Our legs were shaking, we were hungry, thirsty, and hot! So we found a restaurant and the special was steak and fries. On the menu steak and fries was only 11 euros so we got that... and big beers (liters). Our beers ended up being like 14 euros!! It was good though! the special wasn't cheap either! we ended up paying about 30 euros a person! Then we went back to the hotel and bought wine and champagne and drank the bottles catching up with each other! Each bottle is only like 2 euros! It is good too!
This morning Rosie and I woke up before everyone else and went to the train station to try and reserve tickets for a night train to Venice on Monday. FINALLY we had good luck and got right to an english window and got our tickets! wooo hooo what a releif! we have had the worst luck! After that we went and bought some bananas! Then we all went to the metro to go to Notre Dame. It was beautiful! we walked around the outside and then went into the cathedral. I don't think I have ever seen prettier stained glass windows! We went and had falafel for lunch sitting by the seine...again BEAUTIFUL! Then we walked to some touristy shops and bought some post cards and really cool scarves! It is cold in London and we dont' have any "fall" clothes!
Now we are sitting at an internet shop in the air conditioning! It is hot today! Then, we are going to go re apply our deodorant. Just because they don't wear it doesn't mean we shouldn't!! ha ha
We plan on going to the super market and getting crackers and cheese and more wine and sitting by the eiffel tower and picnicing until fireworks start!
I hope you are all having a great summer thus far! Stay cool! Please, enjoy your air conditioning, fresh air (it smells like pee and body odor here), ice cubes, and bud light!
Even with all that... WE ARE HAVING THE TIMES OF OUR LIVES!
MISS YOU!
xoxo
