Day 18:
So today we all got up at 7am and i made sure i grabbed some brekky before the horrendous 6 hour journey to Bangkok. The journey to the border wasnt too bad and suprisingly enough our luggage was not scanned as we crossed over, it was carried over the border by some guy and a wooden trolley and delivered to us on the other end! We all needed some lunch and so i thought i would try some Pad Thai, which actually was quite nice, bring on the green thai curry! hehe...
Later on we arrived in Bangkok around 5.30pm, the traffic wasnt that bad and we can solely put it down to the fact that the protests are still going on at the airport. This has been so crap because it has meant that for the rest of the day everyone was looking of ways to get out of the city by the end of the weekend, either to get to work on Monday or because they had their 30th birthday pary to get home to. Christina and I ended up having our own Tuk Tuk driver for a couple of journeys back and forth from the train station, the travel agents and the hotel in order to organise getting to the next available airport! I booked myself onto a night bus down to Surat Thani and a ferry crossing to Ko Samiu which cost me 850 baht (around 17 squid) which leaves tomorrow.
Back to hotel feeling a little more relaxed because i know i am getting out of the city tomorrow, lets just hope that the army dont go in tomorrow as expected and block all routes out of the city. we keep hearing on the news that when the army or the police get involved there is the potential for blood shed as the activists have said that they will fight to the death!
So we go out for some dinner (one of Adams recommendations) and i decided to try a Thai Green Curry, however i made a special request to the kitchen for it to be mild, just to break me in gently......so when it came and it blew my brains out i knew that i would be in trouble!! As you can probably imagine, i couldnt eat it all. After dinner we wandered through the market (where my legendary poo pants are rife) and got ourselves an icecream, then a drink and finished off with a couple of games of pool. I would say the highlight of the evening was when we decided to go home at 2am and our mode of transport was a tuk tuk.....but this time instead of the tight squeeze with 3 people, we decided to defy space and time and get 6 of us in it instead. 3 on the seat, with Alex and Fiona sitting on top of John and Erin and me snug as a bug on the floor in the middle, holding on for dear life!
