Europe Hit By MGH
nicks turn and id like to start by saying i hope i can live up to the high standards already set in this journal. As you'll be aware from jims entry we came to dam from paris via brussels and arrived around early evening. perhaps naively we had assumed we'd find a place to stay but after a bit of searching realised this may not be the case. our nerves were hardly calmed by seeing a stranger pull what looked like a piece of string out of a large, bleeding hole in his arm. in the end we chose a nice hotel next to the gay cinema and opposite the land of chains and rubber and had to wedge ourselves into a large cupboard containing 3 beds, one of which was immediately won by joe in a rock, paper, scissors tournament much to the disgust of the rest of us. worst of all it cost 18 euros. anyway after a little chill we went downstairs for some pool and a pint then to favourite chicken for the world famous double ringer burger before a pleasant stroll through the red light district though we declined to sample the carnal pleasures. by about 11.30 we were all beginning to tire due to how hard we'd been pushing ourselves since arrival so we headed back to the hostel for one more pint before bed. unfortunately this coincided with the night cap of a certain Mr T (not the black guy from A Team but a random Scottish drug dealer with lots of bling and more worryingly a large collection of knives which he proceeded to show off with glee). understandably we werent overly impressed so after making him think we were incredibly impressed made a hasty exit to a much needed (tho severely cramped) bed.
