Kelly had a ball today because when we woke up it was time to go... Horse Riding!! Which was actually a blast believe it or not. We went up the side of an active volcano, Tungurahua, that was grumbling as we were riding up it. Our guide to start with was a young boy of 13years called Andreas who was really cool and interested in the english name for everything like bull for toro and horse for caballo. Very fun time although by the end of the day i knew i had been riding a horse because my backside was actually bruised :(
On the horse ride we actually met up with an English couple named Paul and Gemma who we found out are doing the Machu Picchu trek on the same day as us through the same company! What a small world!
We then all went quad biking together on the road to Puyo taking in the beautiful scenery and all the waterfalls, we even rode under one. Kelly was a little scared of my driving then we swapped an i was VERY scared of hers! All in all a really cool way to spend the day, except it left us all a little sore.
So what better thing to do in a town balled Baños, which is spanish for Baths, then go to a natural hot spring to soak away the pain! So we trudged up the hill to the hot baths which are actually under a waterfall as well so you can have hot & cold baths to relax the muscles. Just what the Dr. ordered!
To complete the day we introduced Paul & Gemma to our favourite restaurant in Baños, Mariane. Had a wonderful meal once again with great company and a few beers to wash it down. I reccomend the Milanese style steak if you are ever in the area, magnificent!
