So today, where do I even begin...
I imagine there will be two blogs for today, one by me and one by the others when they can.
My bike broke down 120 miles from our first destination! Something to do with the immobiliser we all think and it's not starting. So after being recovered to a local garage in a town called Viviers where no one speaks a word, and I mean 1 word of English, the guy takes my bike into his a garage and locks up (7.30pm) and drives off!!!!
I call my breakdown insurance people to ask what I will do tonight, of which they advise me to get a taxi and go to a local hotel!!!
The receptionist at the garage is just getting into her car so I rush over and in my best French accent English ask for the nearest hotel. She says she's knows a place and will gave me a lift. This woman is in her sixties and the French don't appear to age well!
I gingerly get in her car, in my leathers still and for about 5 minutes try to work out where the fcuk I am!! We then pull up at a small hotel and she greets the owner, of which it appears they are friends. How many times has this happened I wonder??
Again all the bojours, tres bien and merci's can only get you so far and was awkwardly shown to my room. It's ok, no frenchy cockroaches cooking oiiinionnns and garlic thank god.
Another call to the insurance pays for 3 nights! When I ask why I'll be here so long they advise nowhere is open till Tuesday! So now it's a waiting game to see if the bike can be fixed and when by.
I've been up 40 hours and travelled a gruelling 1200 km , time for bed, gutted my trip is almost certainly over....
