An underwater adventure!!

Well, arrived here in Koh Tao Thursday morning after an excellent journey down from Bangkok - a-c sleeper coach and then an early morning boat ride to the island and a beautiful sunrise just as we arrived... Spirits slighlty dampened (haha) by a rather large downpour as we sat in a cafe having breakfast and the road outside turned into a full on river! However, the skies soon cleared and we found a place to stay - Ban's Diving Resort on Sairee beach. We've had a great stay here, cheap rooms but with a balcony overlooking the pool and views to the sea, couldn't ask for any better. Restaurant and bar right on the beach, we've had many a cheap but fantastic meal here over the past few days!

Anyway, we have been busy and not just sunning ourselves on the sand... We're both now certified open water divers! did a four day course, which began with a fair amount of time in the classroom (boo!) but ended with four dives over two days... A fantastic experience! We saw so many kinds of coral and fish and especially exciting were a greenback (?) turtle, a couple of rays and a rather large trigger fish. Also found a 'Nemo' family - mum dad and baby on their own anemone!

Today, however, was spent entirely on the beach - with dips in the sea to cool off a little! So we have finally managed to make a start on the tans!! Also had a few drinks last night with our new diving course buddys so a lie-in was appreciated! Tomorrow we are off again and so are going to have a mini adventure on a quad-bike exploring the island before we leave...
