Miranda's Trip
Hi guys!
Well we attempted to hit Alcatraz yesterday but by the time we got to the desk to buy the tickets they had sold out and so we had to buy them for today. It had totally escaped our notice that it was a Saturday and hence it would be dead busy. We got down to Fishermans Wharf on the cable car, like a tram thing that you see on all the movies. It was so much fun, especially as on the way back I managed to be the first one on (ok, I ran round to the front really annoying some german bods who should have been ahead of me) and got the prime spot on the front hanging on to the poles. At least I thought it was the best spot until it started going and then the pansy in me was a wee bit scared! It did mean I got to take some awesome pictures though. I tried to put some up last night but the computer was saying no so will have to try again later.
Felt a bit like Carrie (not dirty ginge Miranda) in Sex and The City last night as we had pizza slices for dinner from one of those little take away places that seem to be everywhere. Although considering I was dressed like one of the many tramps, hobos and mentalists that seem to be so common here I think I was less SATC and more down and out. Once again we crashed out and were in bed by 9, hence I am typing this at half six in the morning having already phoned Euan as I can't sleep!
Am getting a bit more settled into being away now so less homesick - but thats not to say I miss home any less.
Anyway, better go and at least try and get some more sleep. Have resisted the overwhelming urge so far to buy loads fo tourist junk, but i'm not so much in denial that I don't realise it's gonna happen and i'll be coming back with a rucksack full of 'I Love SF' t-shirts and magnets. And lets not forget the obligatory 10 pounds in weights incurred from literally only eating junk food. Call GreenPeace for when I get harpooned out in the Cook Islands!
