Hi! First card! Just wanted to let you all know I am here safe and sound. The flight was mega long and dead boring but at least we don't have to go through that again. Oh hang, apart from in a week when we hit the Cook Islands! Anyway, off to Alcatraz today. Yesterday was just eaten up by getting here, via a plane, train and an automobile! Oh ok the car was just the parentals dropping me at Heathrow but we did get a train from the airport to downtown. It was full of scary loking people though - living in Bere Regis has not prepared me for that! That and we all know I have some issues with the tube. We had dinner in a diner which was literally out of the film Grease - although unfortunately John Travolta was nowhere to be seen. Obviously if he had per chance wandered in he would have swept me straight off my feet. I had an awesome and bloody huge burger. I can see a wee bit more now why they have such issues with obesity! We got back to the hostel and literally just crashed out at 2000, which was dead stupid really as there is no way I can sleep for 12 hours. So at half one this morning I was on the internet trying to sort out the fact that my sodding phone isn't working over here and so I can't text. Which is a bit like someone has chopped off my arm! As soon as its working though i'll be able to message back. Am hoping to get a proper american breakfast today, bagel styley. None of that pancakes with maple syrup and bacon to me as that is blatantly just disgusting! Then like I said after that the plan is to get out and see some of the sights. Were gonna jump on one of those crazy trams and head down to the Bay. Going to have to be extremely disciplined to not buy bagfuls of tacky souvenirs. Well maybe just a few. Anyhoo, gotta go as I think its time I pulled Jenny, aka the sleep monster, out of bed. I'll be putting my pictures up as soon as I find somewhere to burn them onto a CD as this computer in the hostel won't let me do it.
