It's been a busy few days, again. Thursday Grandma, Grandpa and I went raspberry picking in the morning. It was such a fun morning on the farm, running around, sitting in the grass and munching on some berries. As my Grandma says, they don't weigh you when you leave. I later made a lovely raspberry peach pie with finely chopped candied ginger scattered throughout.
As amazing as the pie was, the highlight of the last few days has to have been our trip up to Owen Sound. My very good friend from NSCAD, Elly, lives up there with her husband Simon (also a friend from that time) and their 2 1/2 year old Lily. It's about a two hour drive up there from Guelph, so we made sure to stop in a Sussman's in Arthur to get Grandpa a new suit. Elly and I had lunch in the back yard, while Lily splashed in her wading pool and my grandparents had lunch out and went up to Big Bay and area. Elly took me on a walk of the town (which is lovely). Lily was adament that she would not fall asleep in the stroller, so Elly told her that she should most definitely not fall asleep (she was asleep in thirty seconds). Upon our arrival home, Lily woke up as she was being carried from the stroller and started to cry. Apparently she's a bit cranky upon waking (just like her mother). After a while, Elly asked if she'd like to sleep on my lap. Lily looked at me and just nodded. Simon came home to iced tea in the living room and his daughter conked out on my lap. It was such a nice visit! The drive home was a little sad as it will mostly likely be a while until I see them again.
Today was a little more relaxing, with a visit to the Saturday farm market and an art market in the streets of Guelph. Grandpa and I walked around both and then headed home for lunch (which is exactly at 12:30 in this household). There was some wonderful artwork, and some works in progress. It's been a fabulous visit so far, and I'm so glad to have spent this time with family.
