Well we are down to the last full day of this part of our trip. A lazy morning around the pool we left at 11am to the war memorial in Sandakan. This is a memorial to the 2,500 servicemen plus locals that died at the hands on the Japanese. They made them walk and walk on death marches which no one survived. Well worth a visit and a somber reminder of the sacrifices others have made so we can be free. Then off to the airport for the short 45 min flight to KK. Wow that was a bit of a bumpy ride with the turbulence!! Back to the Dreamtel which is the same place we stayed when we started two weeks ago. The good news is that Daisy has finally got her luggage back. Even getting that back was not easy. Jeffrey and I walked to the lost and found office whilst we were at the airport. We got sent all over the place and walked for ages only to finally discover that the bag was not at the airport but at the Silk Air offices in KK. It was delivered to the hotel later and Daisy was very happy. Walked down to the waterfront for our final meal together and said our long goodbyes to our lovely group. Amazing how close you get to people after an intense 2 weeks together.
