Huge parks, interesting museums and an amazing assortment of kids' friendly adventures and attractions make London a colossal hit with children of all ages. But here is a little secret - there is more to London than just riding the tube or getting on to bright, red buses. From understanding the story of Britain to uncovering fascinating new realms of contemporary art, and from an enthralling 3D experience to creating your own brand of pottery, London exposes a fun and friendly side that kids will simply love.
Your London tour must begin with a visit of the main attractions of the city - the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Though kids may not show a great deal of interest in the history of the monuments, they will, of course, be completely mesmerised by the sheer size of these breathtaking attractions. You will love the way your kids react to the figures at London Dungeon and the wax works of their favourite idols at Madame Tussauds. Help your kids connect with their wild side at the world famous London zoo.
Your kids may love the London zoo, but it is at the Battersea Park where they will unearth real gems. This compact and well-curated place has an interesting collection of rabbits, meerkats and mice. Little ones will be only too happy to find ponies and pigs replacing big cats like tigers and lions.
Museums tend to get a little boring, but it is in the Museum of Childhood, which houses the national collection of childhood objects, where the fun and frolic really begins. The place, buzzing with activity on Cambridge Heath Road, has a dizzying collection of toys, dolls, games and puzzles dating from the 16th century. Your kids will be completely ecstatic when they find an antique rocking horse from the 1600's alongside an action figure from this century. If you kids aren't satisfied, then head straight to Little Russell Street where the Cartoon Museum has an animated collection of British cartoons and caricatures. Speaking about famous characters, make sure you visit the bronze statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.
There is nothing more carefree like childhood and the Coram's Fields children's playground celebrates this like no other. It is the perfect place to rest and relax after a hectic day of sightseeing. Parents can grab a cup of coffee, while their kids go completely berserk in central London.
The kids' zone at the National Army Museum, London Eye, Unicorn Theatre, Golden Hinde and the Gambado family play centre are just a few other attractions that make London the perfect city for kids.
