Hi all, we are a bit delayed in putting this blog up has have been so busy with only having 3 nights in Krabi before we leave Thailand and travel south to Malaysia.
To back track a little then, we spent 6 days on Ko Phangan which was beautify then spent a further 2 nights on Ko Samui....where we stayed in a place called 'The jungle club. This was only accessible by 4x4 as was properly off the beaten track and very high up. We stayed in a small bungalow/ shack that simply had a bed, toilet, shower and most importantly a mosquito net! What the place lacked in technology it more that made up for with its pool, restaurant and breathtaking views! (and huge spiders, giant centipedes and geckos)
We lest Ko Samui and got a ferry back to Surathani and took a coach to Krabi. Krabi has several claims to fame. The first being that it has various beaches and islands where some of the older James bond films were filmed. And more recently on the Phi Phi islands, where "The beach" was filmed.
On our first day we went in to the main Krabi town called Ao Nang, All beaches in the area are not accessible by road and are only accessible by boat so we took a trip about 20 mins away to a couple and spent the day there before arriving back for an amazing sunset.
On our last day we decided to go to Ko Phi Phi to check out the beaches. The main island was 2 hours by boat and Maya beach from "The Beach" was another 30 minutes by small taxi boat. The trip their was the worst boat ride we'd ever been on, there had been a swell out to sea and we were going up and down huge waves in a small rickety wooden boat that was creaky and taking on water. That said I think you'll agree from the photos it was worth it! What we couldn't take pics of was us snorkelling, the water was so clear you could see all the fish in the depths and we got out of the water over the coral on a make shift bamboo ladder that puts you on the path that the cast of "The Beach" walk on when walking on to the beach for the first time.
Thank you all once again for keeping the messages coming, If anyone uses 'skype' and would like to have a chat then look me up (michael_leather) as i now have mobile internet.
All the Best
