Ahh that's better, a good update on the blog guys. You really did well avoiding the bad weather.
Hope the next leg crossing the Ditch goes well. Including the South Island is a good idea.

Hi guys. Hope you have managed to enjoy Fraser Island, despite the awful rain there. Trust you to go at that time eh?? Should have been here, the sun is shining, warm still and only a little bit of rain yesterday. Hope weather improves for the rest of your stay in Qld. Take care.
Hey guys, we just about got away with it on fraser!! Last day on our way back to the mainland was raining but for the most part the trip was good. It been crazy all the floods between brisbane and Sydney, we are now flying to sydney as there is still alot of clearing up going on. We are spending 3 days in sydney then flying to New zealand early so we can see the south Island too. Hoping to get soome snowbaording in aswell! Hope you and the girls are all well xx

Hey you two!
gone to sleep or incommunicado????
Your blog fans are waiting for the next installment
Been busy chopping and changing our trip....and having a ball with Ben and D. Plans have changed, due to the continuing flood clean up we spent longer in brisbane than expected which was cool and now flying to sydney and going to New Zealand early and seeing the south island too. Hiring a camper on the south island and doing our own tour for 10 days before flying to the north island and doing our planned tour we booked before we left home. Hope you guys are all ok.

I Just got back from Mackay guys weather was ok but not as good as Cairns. So how did you go with the long drive down the East coast and did the Getz hold up ok or did you swop cars at Airlie? Be interested on your thoughts with Central Qld now compared to your trip to date and memories of your last trip there.
And still so much to see and do... ps the Kiwis might be miffed when you get there as we just wopped then at the rugby legue
The drive was good, finding the distances prettyeasy to manage as you concentrate on the road infront of you in Aus as apposed to the vehicle / brake lights infront of you and traffic either side as in the UK!!!
The Getz was good, very economical and pretty comfy for a small car, wouldnt like to tour the whole coast in it though! We dropped the car at airlie and did our whitsunday tour for 3 days then picked up a new one between Airlie and Gladstone.
Was surreal to go to places i remembered, awonga, barney and tanham as well as roys place. Was a strange feeling seeing thhe next generation (all the girls lil ones) playing games in the same spot where Antony, Amy, Ben and I did 19 years ago!
Very different to cairns, i like the space but its hard to compare as cairns and the gladstone area are so different. Glad we descided to drive as was amazing to see the country change so dramatically in such a short space.
Things have obviously changed in regards to development and roys trees!! But on the whole Calliope hadnt changed all that much in 20 years. In comparison to uk rates of development its not changed a great deal and i mean that in a good way.
And yeah watched the rugby legue game, didnt think much of the Haka before the game did u?
Antony
Ello. Shame about them being more touristy. Have you been to Brampton yet? You got to go to Red Rooster!!!!
I ditched my Sony and went for yours I think 400D which was going for cheap on an argos outlet on ebay - I'm well chuffed with it tbh. Just need a longer zoom, was thinking of a sigma or tamron 18-250mm or something. Want to go to some airshows!
Article was good. 3800 words in the end :-S Was up till 3am last night finishing it though but the guy is impressed and it's bagged me £600 before tax - enough to buy a lense :)
Antony
Hello! Wow looks a bit different to Thailand! Weather looks awesome too. Bet you're having a great time!
BTW what tele lens did you get for your canon? Has it been good?
Amps
Hey dude, yeah very different from Thailand and also from what i remember it. Cairns was totally different to what i remember of Brisbane and the whitsundays. But thats dude to the distances involved i guess. Also The Whitsundays i think have become more touristy but maybe that was because im travelling as a backpacker as apposed to on holiday? We just came back from a whitsunday island tour which was not quite what we expected but good none the less. Eaten in Hungry Jacks and just trying to persuade Andrea to go to red rooster !!!
The lense which i have along side the 18-55mm kit lense is the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom AF Lens with image stabilization. Bothe have severved me well for almost every situation. The are both not too heavy which is a big bonus when you are carrying two back packs and a laptop on you already! Only thing i will buy in the futre will be a macro but i took my little compact too which has a good macro facility and is what i use when the need arises. How did the article go by the way for 'CS' ?
