We arrived at lunchtime. It was quite cool. There were some old cars on the dockside. Barbara and I took the shuttle into town. It's quite a small place and was destroyed in an earthquake in the 30's. It was rebuilt in Art Deco style. The sun came out and we just strolled about the town. The main shopping street is also the main Art Deco street.
After a drink in the Provincial Hotel, we wandered along to the aquarium. It was quite small but it was OK. There was also a kiwi enclosure there. The kiwi's were invisible. A keeper brought in some food and after a few minutes two kiwi's appeared. So I've managed to see these odd birds on both of my visits to New Zealand.
The Syndicate Quiz was run by a member of the staff who rarely sees me and I was surprised she knew my name, I can barely remember hers!!
