GOOD MORNING DOOOO-BAI!
It is 3:20am as we sit in the Westin Hotel awaiting pick up for our balloon ride over the desert. Much excitement mixed with fatigue after busy day & late night yesterday.
After our day of pure gluttony on Friday at "brunch" we did a little shopping in the souks then headed home to digest. Seriously I have never experience such indulgence in all my life. I had to suspend guilt to even enjoy it. And they do this in hotels all over Dubai every Friday. We are learning that nothing is done in Dubai by halves. It has to be bigger & better than everything!
Yesterday we spent the entire day at the Dubai Mall. Shopping like you wouldn't believe! A whole section devoted to just designer baby/children's clothes . Gourmet chocolate shops, electronics, Bloomingdales (which was disappointing), Tiffany's, a huge aquarium just to name a few. Philip & I bought our anniversary presents for each other. A watch for him & a freshwater champagne pearl & diamond necklace for me! Dubai started its life as a fishing & pearl diving village so I really wanted something that represented that.
We then went up the Burj Khalifa, tallest building in the world. Very tall indeed!
Watched the Dubai Fountain which was magical. Yummo dinner in authentic Middle eastern restaurant. Collapsed with sore legs into bed so we could get up this early! Will post this after balloon trip so can use pretty balloon cover photo .
