Woke up today at lunch and went to have yellow rice and dried beans with typical peanut sauce And chicken skewers! A stall/restaurant a few streets from our guesthouse in Seminyak Beach, we're the food is set out like a buffet so you can try different sauces, meats, tofu and vegetable! My meal cost four times the price of Andhika's vegetable meal just for having two small chicken skewers! Still under £3!
Andhika looked in disgust when I went to leave a couple spoonfuls of rice. I had to finish every single last grain on my plate as Muslims respect the rice being their main staple food, however meat and vegetables they don't seem mind! This is the opposite to how I was brought up in the UK; to always finish any expensive meat first!
We plan on finally leaving Bali to head to Gilli tomorrow so the thought of planning our trip tired us out and led to me and annie sitting in in a restaurant all afternoon drinking iced tea when we should have made the most of having free time whilst Andhika was at work!
A one way boat to Gilli costs 660Rabies but locals get it much cheaper! I managed to book it for 450rabies (£12) for a return, and i could've got it for 400 if id had more time! We considered a cheaper alternative of taking a local fishing boat which is half the price but takes 10hours instead of 1! That type of boat can be dangerous and uncomfortable although certainly an experience to remember!
Had to use the ATM twice to draw out money for the room and then to pay for the boat and then the third time to draw out more money to actually live! Declined! The rules of our traveller cards are sporadical; we never knew you can't make more than two transactions in one day over the value of £200! So Caxton blocked our cards until god knows when, a nightmare when I have 50Rupei left to my name to survive!
Arranged to eat out for the last time with Andi and Alex and finally got round to it three hours later! Locals waste so much time here being indecisive! Went to go eat at place down a back alley but Alex didn't get on with the owner so then moved to another side of town to the usual place where I turn up at 5:00am with all the Bali Joe staff!
Had to sit on the floor with no shoes and eat with one hand! They have no cutlery in the daytime! Could've died, every Asian in there was watching me and Annie the only Westerners to analyse our finger scooping skills! Awks!
Actually don't mind it now though, I can shovel it down my throat quicker... Ha!
We all went to Andis to chill and they both decided they want to come to Gilli with us tomorrow, so spent half the time on the phone trying to book them a ticket!
Andi dropped us back home after 11:00pm, he really doesn't care if he's late for work!
Fell to sleep at 12:00pm then randomly woke up at 1:00am! I then couldn't sleep! I was stressing out about my card being declined so I stayed up for an hour to wait for Andy to finish work then went to the ATM outside his bar to say goodbye! Ended up going with him and all his work colleagues to eat at a hawker stall and it was the first one here that I thoroughly enjoyed!
Drove around on Andy's motorcycle all night long to 5 different ATMs, all of which declined me! Really not happy now and seen as I'm not in the mood to sleep I decided to stay awake all night until 6:00am to pack my bags! It's hard to do when your not influenced by alcohol, my eyes started to really sting and got a really stiff neck. Yet, I've done it every other night just fine! Ha!
