Dear Diary (18/12),

Left Kaikoura for Wellington via the ferry across the Cook Strait, which was alot choppier than previous crossing!

Arrived at hostel at about 5.30pm & I decided to splash out & get a room to myself rather than a dorm-absolute heaven. The simpliest of things but it was as good as being in a 5 star hotel at this stage of my travels.

Met the only other 3 people who got off at Wellington in the bar along with Matty our driver (apart from the Queenstown to Christchurch leg, i've been on Matty's bus all the time. A really cool dude!!) for some final farewell drinks & game of killer pool with some others staying at hostel.

Left the hostel in order to catch a flight to Auckland about 1pm, so it was really nice to get a lay in for a chnage & wake up not feeling rough
