Anyone that had ever watched Classic BBC TV show Dad's Army will of course be familiar with the term "don't panic Mr Manwering, don't panic." Given the shambles that is public transport here in Bratislava, it should come as no surprise that leaving is just as chaotic as arriving.
I'm booked on the 16:45 bus to Gyor leaving Bratislava Bus Station from platform C1. But, and it's only a minor inconvenience, there is no platform C1 and no buses leave for Gyor at that time - the nearest combination I can find is platform 12 (it has a 1 in it) and leaves at (you ready for this) at 03:00 which is the only bus I see leaves for Gyor.
Minor issue as I say, I have plans B, C and D all ready to rock and roll and involve staying here in Bratislava (plan B) giving me all night to sort out getting to Budapest. Or heading straight to Budapest from here missing out Gyor altogether (plan C) which I'd like to avoid cos I like the look of this hotel in Gyor, or plan D going back to Vienna and pick up the express train to Budapest. Again if I can avoid that, I'd like to.
Will know more later in day, no need to get stressed out over this, I'll make it to Budapest one way or another and be there at Burger King Besci at 1:30. You can bet your life on it !
