It's ramping up alright! My dining room looks like a storage locker - full of bits for the boat including a rice cooker, a trident, 4 big tubs of sudocrem and a whole heap of baby wipes!
It's Gosport prep week next week and it's time to get ready.
There are a multitude of jobs to do. The running rigging has all been replaced, new sails have been delivered but there are still some minor leaks around the stanchions to fill with sealant (nobody wants to be dripped on in their bunk!), winches to service, not to mention storing the boat with enough food for 5 weeks for 21 people! There is always something to do/fix. Various training sessions are taking place next week for the sail repair, media and engineering leads too.
We have a team social planned for next week too. I feel a GB cake coming on. It will be great to get as many people as we can together. Then we are off to London for the delivery to St Kat's marina, hob knobbing outside No 10, major crew party and then it's start day……. Excited? Nervous? A little bit scared? Yes, and I'm not leaving until January!
My flights are booked to Oz and I'm excited to be staying with some friends in an amazing house in Airlie Beach prior to the fleet arriving. Now that will be a day to remember.
Sail Away Party in the planning……
