A great week getting to know the boats and some of my fellow sailors.
Andy - Quads of Gods, Richard, Dana, Will, Nick and Phil with Hugh as Skipper and 1st Mate, Quintin. We were put through our paces throughout the week and learnt and refreshed a million things. I finally think I've got the hang of helming (BZ from Quintin!) and managed to lead the main sail hoist on the last day with only minor intervention!
We learnt about the sails and procedures and how to run the boat - engine checks and all. We all were so excited that even with my head in a bildge, feeling slighly quaesy, it as the only place I wanted to be! I think we all felt the same, soppy teenage grins about what we were doing - living a dream.
Some top boat food was produced - daily cakes and even a pasta dish with a motzarella crumb. (What's that I hear you ask? About another £10 on the bill in London!) We were dunked in the water as swimmers to recover a casualty and tacked and gybed our way around the Solent in beautiful sunshine for most of the week.
A lovely crew dinner on the last night topped off an amazing week. We are on our way. I am looking forward to seeing my new Clipper friends again soon.
