14th-15th January - so after working 80+ hours a week over Christmas, Eleni and I decided we needed a mini holiday so we decided to cruise over to Hamilton island which is one of the islands on the Whitsunday's! we chose a good couloir of days to go over on as the weather was super hot in the region of 35degrees! Not bad! We decided to be cheap and get over to the island by catching he barge which would of been free if we hadn't of missed it by 10mins so we decided to track down a local boat that could take us over! Luckily we found a local boat going to one of the nearby islands so hitchhiked a lift with him which saved us a bit of money! Was a lot more fun than the ferry! Once we arrived to Hamilton it was beautiful lots of shops and things to do and the island was deserted of cars but instead replaced with golf nights which was pretty cool! We made our way to our 4* hotel which was one of the best ones on the island with a fantastic view over the Whitsunday's! Bit different from the hostel! Our room was massive and for the first time in 8 months I had a double bed to myself! Felt good to lie diagonally across it and take up all the room! Our next mission was to get to the pool for happy hour! Like mother like daughter! We then dressed out selves u back in the room ready for sunset drinks at one tree hill, the hill was much street than we expected and had a very nice lady give us a lift on her buggy to the top! We saw the beautiful sun set over the Whitsunday's whilst drinking champagne! Truly living the dream! Next we went for dinner and had lots of seafood and a roast dinner but doesn't compete with a British roast but was still yummy! We spent the rest of the evening tucked up in our duvets watching tv which I haven't done since leaving the UK! In the morning we woke early and had breakfast next to the beach, the buffet was a highlight to the meals and enjoyed omelettes and pancakes and lots of different pastries and fruit! E then decided to take advantage of the free kayaks and paddle boards which was very amusing! Next we headed back to the pool for happy hour! Was a very good hour! After this we had a wonder around the shops and had some lunch by the marina! We headed back to Airlie beach by the ferry, not as fun as the trip there! We then went around to some work friends apartments for birthday celebrations and leaving drinks and had a great evening drinking and eating by the pool and watching the sun set! Was a great couple of days that we didn't want to end! Was a good evening being able to spend time with work friends that I have become really close to so will miss them after I leave but will hopefully stay in touch! I move back to Sydney and continue my adventures on the 25th Jan so my blogs will continue to get more interesting! Miss you all! Xxxxx
