I arrived into Auckland on the 16th March! It was very much how I remembered the UK... Wet! None the less I explored the city and went a watched a film! I am doing the kiwi experience whilst I am here so next ago is the hot water beach, so hopefully will start to see what New Zealand ins famous for! :)
18/03 - Today I joined the Kiwi experience! So glad I did as everyone on the bus is awesome! Really good mix of people and met Jessy who I got on really well with, it makes it so much easier to enjoy yourself when you have someone like her! Everyone thinks we have known each other for ages! We travelled to Hot Water Beach where we built natural spas in the sand that we all sat in, the water was really hot as it sits on the volcanic plates. It was really hot as well so enjoyed running into the sea! The accommodation that we stayed at was really nice and I got to sleep in a double bed which was a great experience after sleeping in singles! Also had fish and chips, but just doesn't compare to home!
19/03 - Today we travelled to Waitomo Where I went black water rafting! It was one of the best experiences of my life! First of all we abseiled down a 35metre cave before zip wiring in the dark to lower parts of the cave in pitch darkness! We then front flipped into a cave river on rubber rings and paddles through the cave and saw thousands of glow worms! We had a mud fight which was funny then swam back up the river and jumped into waterfalls and climbed up steep cave walls and crawled through very tight spaces! It was a really good adrenaline rush! We did a couple of scenic hikes today as well and saw absolutely beautiful scenery! It's so pretty!
20/03 - We left Waitomo And travelled to Rotorua Where we went Lubing! This is where we traveled on a race track on what I can only describe as go karts! I was very competitive as per usual and nearly sent one of the guys of the track! Haha cooper spirit! :) it was so much fun! We cooked chilli con cane wraps tonight which where vey yummy! And if that wasn't enough we went for free pizza! Fattys!
21/03 - Taupo - we travelled to Taupo today which has a lake the size of Singapore! It was absolutely stunning! Tonight was our first big night out in New Zealand! It was a very eventful night and a great way to get to know everyone else on the tour!
22/03 - Taupo - today we spent a day relaxing in Taupo after the night before! We took a walk along the lake and had a go at golf, which was my first time! It was very hard and I'm surprised I even hit the ball! We had to try to get the ball in the hole the first time in the lake, but was by hard! The town was really nice and had a good atmosphere to it with beautiful views! We could also see mount doom, which a lot of the other people hiked, but with a 5.30am start and a hangover, I didn't think it was a great idea! We continue to have walks on our travels on the bus which is a good way to see the beautiful scenery!
23/03 - River Valley - we travelled to a lodge today in the middle of no where but with beautiful views. The weather has started to get a little colder so my fluffy hat has come into use! We had a New Zealand roast dinner tonight, but had no gravy, no roast potatoes, no stuffing, no yorkshires, no parsnips, no sweet potato, only roast beef! Not what I would call a roast dinner but was nice all the same! We took a small walk around the waterfalls and surroundings which was very nice!
24/03 - Wellington - We arrived to Wellington late in the evening so decided to stay for three nights to make the most of the city! I met up with Selina from school who was my media teacher and her partner Jim, we had a great time catching up and took us to lots of different places that we wouldn't of normally gone to! We went to the lookout point at the top of mount victoria and saw the whole of Wellington. We visited the Weta Cave studios which is where Lord of the Rings was filmed and lots of other big films which was a really interesting visit! Wellington is known as windy Wellington and it certainly lived up to its reputation. We got the ferry across to Picton which connects the two islands. The boat was more like a cruise ship than a ferry!
27/03 - We arrived in Kaiteriteri which is next to the Abel Nelson which is the largest national park and most popular one in New Zealand! The weather was absolutely brilliant and spent a lot of our time on the beach and chilling out. On the second day me and Angela went kayaking thought the Abel Nelson and saw baby seals! The weather was awesome and got the chance to swim off the islands! Was such a good day, my arms were aching by the end of it though! We had fish and chips on one of the nights, which turned out to be shark! Was pretty good!
30/03 - We arrived in Westport today after having a nice lie in at Kaiterteri! Me and Jess went surfing in the evening which was pretty awesome, but it did start to rain but we were already wet so it was all good! We ended up having a big booze up in the room and playing drinking games until early hours! Met some really awesome people! Love it! The hostel itself was awesome too with lots of hammocks and other lounge areas and tvs!
31/03 - It's Easter!! This means I have been able to eat lots of chocolate and not feel guilty! Yummy! We are in Lake Maihinapua Which is in the middle of no where but the owner cooks us up a massive feast with a big steak! Can't wait! It is also a fancy dress theme night and as everything is closed we have a bin bag party, so we are all dressing up in super hero outfits! Got to love a big dress up party! :D
01/04 - Got to say that was on elf the best nights out so far! Lots of drunkenness and nudity! Bin bags and male thongs were never going to be a good idea! We stopped for a full english breakfast and plenty of fluids and headed to Franz Josef. The views on the way were stunning! Such a beautiful country! The weather has been pretty good too, I just hope it stays nice for our helicopter flight to the glaciers! By excited! The hostel we are staying in also has a 24 seater hot tub which is lush! We also have the best room yet again, trying to remind myself why I am coming home again!
02/04 - Today was the day I got to go in a helicopter! What an experience! The weather was pretty clear considering it was meant to be raining and we could see some fantastic views over the glaciers! We then did a hike up the glacier and words cannot even describe how beautiful it was! We went through tunnels and even did a topless group shot with the glaciers in the background! Epic! We were then treated to the local hot pools which was basically just one massive bath tub! Bliss! As a celebration, not that we needed an excuse we all went drinking, it started with drinking games which are never a good idea, and ended with me being fund in the toilets passed put! Brilliant! Hang over, not so brilliant!
03/04 - Woke up to possibly one of the worst hangovers! Just what I needed with a 5 hour coach journey ahead! Luckily we stopped of a bacon butty, yum! We are on our way to Wanaka today, which is meant to be one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand, so I'm looking forward to a chilled one! Three weeks today until I go home! Time is going way too fast!
04/04 - We arrived in Queenstown today, party capital of New Zealand! It is absolutely beautiful the with the snow on the top of the mountains but reflect blue sky's and sunshine! Never want to leave this place! The next two weeks are going to involve a lot of hangovers! I am doing my bungy and swings next week but am fast running out of money! So needing to curb the spending! Woops! Worth every penny!
10/04 - Today we went to Milford sound. Along the way we saw the mirror lakes that reflect the mountains in the background which was pretty cool! It was really nice weather right up until we got to Milford Sound which was a shame as we took a cruise along the river and saw some pretty impressive waterfalls. Because it was foggy it was hard to see the mountains in their full glory.
13/04 - Today was the day that I did my big bungy jump! The weather was perfect for jumping! He jump was the 3rd highest in the world at 134m with a 8.5 second free fall then the swing was the worlds biggest swing and was a 300m arc, with a 160m rope and u go 120kph! Pretty epic! Loved every minute even though I was absolutely terrified about doing it! Was roped off by going to Ferg burger for a well deserved pizza which was yum!
14/04 - We today we went to the ice bar and had cocktails put of ice glasses was a pretty cool experience and even made a funny music video which defiantly amused the people around is!
