I have just finished my last day in Hoi An and it has een such a nice area. I feel like i am broke however now as i have sepent a fortune on clothes and shoes which i posted back to the UK today. I am pretty chuffed with all the purchases though, apart from one jacket which i dont really like. I still can't believe how many tailors there are in Hoi An - at least 300 in a town the population of 70,000.
I also spent one day on the motorbike as well, we hired an automatic (i wussed out of the manual bike) which was a bit nerve racking!! As soon as we hired the bikes and got started about 2 minutes later we saw a nasty crash between a local and a westerner which was a little firghtening. We decided to take the bikes to Marble moutain, which is a tourist trip about 19km away to get an idea of how to use the bikes. We then went to a nearby fishing village and handicraft village before heading to the beach for some beach action. By the end of the day i felt a little more confident on the back of the bike, but i would not fancy driving in any of the busy cities!
I went to My Son world heritage site yesterday which was pretty cool as it was similar to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, although it was pretty much destroyed in the war which is a real shame. In the afternoon i went around collecting all my clothes and shoes that i got fitted and made your they were good enough.
We found a little cafe also that does cakes and desserts and it was Vietnams answer to Betty's, so i had a black forest gateaux which was lovely - obviously not as good as yours mum!! I am also loving the vietnam coffee - it is totally different to our coffee and they have it with condensed milk which is a lot nicer!! I even tried the Wessel coffee which is the worlds most expensive coffee and probably the most disgusting method (basically the coffee bean is digested by a weasel and s***ted out the other end before its put in your cup - yum)
More importantly, we have found numerous restaurants which are selling beers for 4,000 dong (13p) so i am planning on getting drunk for 1 quid - oh yeah!
I head to Hue tomorrow at 7am so its an early start before getting a flight to Hanoi the same evening at 9pm so its going to be a long day. Oh well should be fun anyway.
