Something super exciting happened yesterday. I finally found out who my host family is. They seem like super nice people. It was great to finally have something solid to look to when it comes to London. Until now it's always just been this thing off in the distance. Now I realize that this is actually happening. I am going to move to London and live there for a semester. And I'm so excited.
Of course, anything seems better than what I'm doing right now.
You see, in addition to being old, historic and altogether amazing, London is an extremely expensive city. So I've been spending the past seven weeks working full time at National Car Rental. This is my first full time job. And I have to say, I don't really care for it. Pretty much it's the worst thing I've ever done. But they are paying me. And I only have three more weeks to go-- so I'm hoping I'll survive.
But this e-mail hailing from my British host family certainly brightened things up a bit. I was glad to find out that the commute doesn't seem too difficult. It takes only about 25 minutes to get into central London. That's less time commuting in London than I spend getting to work in Downtown Salt Lake. It shouldn't be too hard to get used to. Plus, I won't be dreading getting to where I want to go (like I am with getting to work).
I just can't wait to be done with this job, so I can start really planning for London and getting excited and nervous. I know I'm going to have an amazing experience. I just know it.
I'm going to try to write in this blog at least once more before I really start my adventure. And after that I'll try to do it at least once a week. I hope you all enjoy!
