The competition is tight between megan and leanne as to who has the most bites!!The current score is 9-7 to Megan (vegetarian blood must take nicer!!):)
After a great nights sleep and getting up around 12.30pm we headed off to Marina Bay to have a go in the Singapore Flyer (like the London Eye). We got off the MRT to find ourselves in an industial estate surrounded by cranes and hard hats!!After Leanne having a vision of which way to head towards (as we didnt have a map) we followed the pedestrian signs out of the sight and headed towards the wheel of Steel!!It was really hot today and we didnt realise how long the walk was. After a trek we arrived on the flyer and hopped on. It took about 40mins to go around and the views were amazing. We took lots of photos and then hopped off getting onto a free bus back to the MRT station as we didnt fancy the walk again! It was still quite early in the day so we looked in our little free book (which we picked up from the airport)and decided to catch a BUS to Haw Par Villa where were we to find a park full of cartoon statues about China and its god's and history. After asking someone what bus to catch we hopped on for $2.20 (thats less than 60p each BARGAIN!!) sat down and felt quite proud that we had used another means of transport. One thing we hadnt thought about was when to get off!! There was nothing in the bus telling you the name of the next stop so it was a case of straining our eyes to see if we could spot the name of the next street or bus stop!We found this highy amusing and thought we had figured out our stop so we hopped off only to turn around to find the bus still there and the driver shouting broken english at us informing us we had got off too early!!We still had 4 more stops to go!!We found it rather funny unlike the handful of people on the bus looking at us weirdly!!Finally arriving at our destination we went exploring to find the statues rather boring and there wasnt anyone about so we took some photo (it said in our book to check out the 'laughing buddha' so we put some coins in what we thought was a slot to make him laugh but found out after nothing had happened that it was simply a slit in the statue!!ha ha!!)We then caught the bus again to head back to the hostel. It was still a mystery as to where we should get off!!(We just followed everyone else!!) Back to the hostel safe and sound. We had some soup (megan=Tomato and Leanne=Minestrone)and some of the Thai eye fruit for dessert.
After a busy week in Singapore things are slowing down and we are about ready for Australia.
Hope all is well back home and the rain has stopped:)
