Althea Halliday Your father read your latest entry aloud to me, and I am smiling as I write. Isn't Capri just the most wonderful place! I could see the Venice glasses on the table at 'Aurora', and as for the dessert, what can you say? You are living so richly in the present and creating irreplaceable memories. (PS Gemma's postcard from Greece was in our mailbox yesterday. The painting of Greece 'Off the beaten track' is beautiful.))

Heather Perhaps you should have sent the hat around the orchestra so they could pay YOU for attending! ... And not walking out! :)
re: Palermo, ItalyHeather What a wonderful stroll through Rome! And I am sure the scaffolding can't stop your next pilgrimage! xH
re: Rome, ItalyHeather Love your description of the 'surprise' symphony! And your shopping expedition sounds very reminiscent of what Tina and I call our Baroness Tours... I think you could be Baronesses in training. Not sure how you feel about that Gareth and David ;

re: Capri, ItalyAlthea Halliday This is a wonderful entry! I am sitting on the sofa with Cappy purring with force beside me imagining all that you have described: Villa Maria with its wisteria, its china and its breath-stopping view, Villa Cimbrone and the story of the restored garden, the food of distinction at 'da Gemma', David's excursion to buy tickets, his sprint to the boat, Amber's unmistakable voice. For some reason I have been entirely overcome with nostalgia.
re: Capri, ItalyAlthea Halliday This is a particularly poignant blog for me. I can see it all again: the scintillating blue of the sea, the coloured pebbles, the slung-back chairs of the cafe. I am so glad that you are all there, immersing yourselves in this place that is singular in its beauty.
re: Capri, ItalyDebra Thank you so much for your blog! My next trip, after one more visit to Paris, is definitely going to be Italy. I will need some travel tips as the last time I was in Italy was 1985! Were you even alive then?
re: Capri, ItalyAlthea Halliday There you are in Capri with your granitas! There is something entirely wonderful about the known and the beautiful. Immerse yourself in it all.
