Althea Halliday Your father read your latest entry aloud to me, and I am smiling as I write. Isn't Capri just the most wonderful place! I could see the Venice glasses on the table at 'Aurora', and as for the dessert, what can you say? You are living so richly in the present and creating irreplaceable memories. (PS Gemma's postcard from Greece was in our mailbox yesterday. The painting of Greece 'Off the beaten track' is beautiful.))

mediterranean-muse Hi Bev! I have just realised that I can write a reply! Having a fabulous time in case that isn't apparent from the blog. Always so many beautiful things to see. We have recovered thank goodness and are eating extremely well! Plenty of pizza and Caprese salad and pasta. Very high carbohydrate load, lucky there are so many steps! We shall have to have a slide show next visit. Love Gem xx

Althea Halliday This is a wonderful entry! I am sitting on the sofa with Cappy purring with force beside me imagining all that you have described: Villa Maria with its wisteria, its china and its breath-stopping view, Villa Cimbrone and the story of the restored garden, the food of distinction at 'da Gemma', David's excursion to buy tickets, his sprint to the boat, Amber's unmistakable voice. For some reason I have been entirely overcome with nostalgia.

Althea Halliday This is a particularly poignant blog for me. I can see it all again: the scintillating blue of the sea, the coloured pebbles, the slung-back chairs of the cafe. I am so glad that you are all there, immersing yourselves in this place that is singular in its beauty.

Debra Thank you so much for your blog! My next trip, after one more visit to Paris, is definitely going to be Italy. I will need some travel tips as the last time I was in Italy was 1985! Were you even alive then?

Althea Halliday Hello darlings (plural) I am back in Sydney after my adventure north, and have read all the blogs. What sights (and sites) you are seeing: one amazing thing after the other. So glad that the dextrous David manoeuvred the vehicle safely, assisted so ably by Gareth and Pablo. (What a wonderful name is Pablo!). Thank you, as always, for the detail. It is fascinating. You must be so looking forward to Capri and those big lemon granitas at the top of the stairs.

Beverly Langsford Willing Hi everyone. Just caught up on reading your blog as have been away up in Sydney for a few days and didnt have wifi access for my iPad. Sounds as if you are still having a fabulous time. But all those steps! You must be fit or have very sore and aching feet and legs. Hope you girls have recovered from your bugs but all should be ok with your resident doctor with you. Happy exploring. Are you eating anything else than pizza?
