So Barcelona is my favorite city so far. We got there Thursday night at like 1 am and eventually found our hostel after being lost for a while. We saw signs for the Tour de France, which we didn't know was coming through Barcelona. We asked about it when we checked in and the guy said it was the next day, but he didn't know where/when. We decided to wake up and try to find it. The next morning, we were woken up by sirens and whistles, so we got up and went outside to see the Tour right outside our hostel! We watched the caravans and all go by, then the riders flew by. It was really neat, they all are going so fast and grouped together so close, I don't see how they do it. That was a great start, then we met up with some people from our group and went on a bus tour of Barcelona. The tour was awesome, on one of the open top double decker buses. We saw everything, including all the ridiculous Gaudi houses, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral (amazing), the Olympic stuff, FC Barcelona's stadium Camp Nou, the biggest in Europe (100,000), the marinas, and everything in between. At FC Barcelona's complex, they gave us free tickets for an indoor tourney the next day. The next day, we went to the beach right off the metro stop. It was good, but it was cloudy the whole day, so we didn't get much sun. The beach (and all of Barcelona) was covered in peddlers, selling drinks, drugs, tatoos, and massages on the beach. I ended up getting a cheap massage from some Asian woman which was actually really good. After the beach, we cleaned up and went to FC Barcelona's complex to see what the indoor thing was about. We didn't know what to expect, but when we walked into their basketball/indoor arena, it was awesome. The tourney was Barcelona, AC Milan, and Real Madrid...basically the three biggest clubs in Europe. The stadium was crowded and loud, and Barca ended up winning the tournament, winning both games that they played. The games were a blast, and even the non soccer fans had fun. After that, we went to these fountains in front of the Royal Palace. They have fountain shows every night with lights and music that the fountains go along with. We knew it'd be cool when they started with the Lion King. The show went on for an hour, and everyone loved it. I took some good pictures of it that I just posted. That night, we went to the Dow Jones Bar. It was a cool concept, they had TV's around the bar with every drink on it and a price. The price went up and down for the drinks, and every now and then they'd crash and get cheap. It was a neat experience. The next day, we went to a much better beach outside the city. The water and weather were both awesome, and it was a great recap for a great weekend. I would recommend Barcelona to ANYONE, it was so cool in so many ways.
