McKay Family Adventure
Today we went into town and had some morning tea at a little cafe and then did a bit of shopping.
After that we went up to Cook's Monument. Captain James Cook was the first European to map the east Australian coast. We went down onto the beach to where he landed in the year 1770 (that's how the town got it's name).
We went up to the lookout and saw - you guessed it - some whales! They were in nice and close. We also saw an old anchor from a ship that was shipwrecked here a long time ago.
After lunch we had a swim in the beach, then we did some fishing on the beach. Unfortunately I only caught a tiny flathead (not big enough to eat). We watched the sunset over 1770 beach while we fished, it was so cool.
