So today we hired mopeds. I say we, but Sara chickened ou after a trial mili-second driving one. So she rode behind Dan. Which is hilarious when you consider it's a little automatic moped, probably 125cc, with a good 29 stone on the back of it, trying to get up the same steep, windy hills we went up yesterday for the cycling! But it was ok.
It used about half a tank of gas to do 15km and was producing enough heat to warm a small, cold country, but it got us to Doi Suthep, which is the wat up on the mountain. And a rather large, magnificent wat it is too! There are over 300 steps leading up to the temple and there is so much gold you could go blind looking at it!
We were up there a while, lighting incense and candles, getting blessed and all that malarky, then we read our books by the Buddhist Centre for a while. Very relaxing indeed!
We headed back down the mountain at about half 3, it was a far easier, quicker journey on the way down anyway! We headed to the riverside once we were back in the city and stopped at a bar/restaurant for a late lunch and a beer. At which point the heavens opened! We've had a little bit of rain for short periods but nothing like this! Having left our helmets on the bike, we had to wring them out before continuing home around 6pm!
Tonight is supposed to be the Sunday Walking Street but we're not so sure! We'll see....
