So i have been in Sydney for about 3 weeks which doesnt seem very long for what i have achieved.
When i arrived i stayed with relatives which was great. Brilliant home cooked meals accompanied by 2 noisy little boys who liked dressing up in a Batman/cowboy ensemble. It was nice to be in a real home rather than i hostel but it was never a long term arrangement and after only a few days there i had found a place to move in to the following week. There was always adverts looking for flatmates but the majority of them were looking for people to fill beds in share rooms which was no different from living in a hostel so why should i pay extra for the privilege? I found a private room in a abording house which seemed ok. I have my own room which is fully furnished and there are 4 bathrooms, it's a bit like being back at uni. If i can find somwhere else better i would concider moving but for now im quite settled.
While i was staying with the family, i spent the majority of the time applying for jobs and going to interviews. It was tiring answering the same questions over and over again but after what felt like a lifetime of agency meetings, interviews and online applications & rejections i finally got a part time temp job through an agency which was working for an energy saving company doing customer satisfaction surveys, BORING! There wasnt a lot of work to do and it was quite far to travel so wasnt really worth my time. I didnt think i was going to be able to carry on and was worried aboutpaying my rent. Things were getting a bit depressing and although i was still applying for jobs and having interviews, there didnt seem to be anything else on the horizon.
Then i got a call about a job that i had applied for but was told that i was not eligable because im on a working holiday visa but they still invited me to interview for another position within the company. At the end of the interview the offered me the position that i had originally applied for! I was gobsmacked! I had informed them abooiut the fact that i was only available for 6 months due to my visa restrictions but they still gave me the job.
You are now looking at the new Guest Relations Reservations Team Leader at the Sydney Tower. Im so chuffed! I can finally pay off my debts and then start saving so I can carry on traveling as well as buy some really cool stuff!
HAPPY MEGAN :-) x
