We've been in Hong Kong since Tuesday morning and really packed our days full! Yesterday (monday) We arrived at the airport at 05:30 and tried our best to find our pre booked bus to our hotel. About an hour later someone pointed us in the right direction and we were soon to be on a bus to the Anne Black Guest House in Kowloon (the mainland part of Hong Kong).
After unpacking and a small sleep by Pedro we headed out on the MTR (underground) to Hong Kong Island where we saw the bank of China and climbed to the 43rd floor to see the smog and some of the sights. We then popped under the most expensive building in the world to be built and enjoyed looking at the see through escalators.
Taking a tram up the peak we had lunch at a nice thai/chinese place and then wandered round the botanical gardens and hopped on the longest covered person moving platform (escalator to you and me) in the world.
Lastly we went round soho and looked at what I had imagined when I thought of Hong Kong. A load of street vendors selling everything you never knew you wanted. Pez bought a braclet - nice!
Today we rocked more street markets and a temple before heading to Ocean Park - Hong Kong's home grown amusment park. It was quiet and so the wait for rides was minimal. We enjoyed the pirates ship twice in a row as well as a rollar coaster and a log flume.
The reson for the name is the sea lion and dolphin show as well as underwater aquariums (worlds largest) containing everything from well lit jelly fish to nurse sharks.
We then headed back across to the mainland via the star ferry and saw the city at night - well worth it!
