Matt and I arrived in Sydney 1st March about 5pm... with no accomodation booked. The bloody Mardi Gras was on so everywhere was booked up eek! Luckily we managed to get one of the last few rooms left at a Holiday Inn near the airport (phew)! Bit out of our price range but well worth it after a long trip in our campervan! We decided to go into Sydney centre to see what the 'crack' was (excuse the pun). And yowsa was it busy! Matt was practically attached to me... just in case any boys might think he was 'free' haha. The 'boys' were, let's say... CAMP! and the girls didn't exactly leave much to the imagine...hmm. Had a nice meal and then headed back to the hotel ready for some kip before getting up at 5.45am to meet Joe (Matt's bro), who is spending 2 weeks with us.
After an early start to the day the three of us dragged our sorry bottoms to a hotel near Darling Harbour and set out to do as much sightseeing as poss. Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are truly spectacular!!! We couldn't get enough pics... particularly Joe who is like a Japanese tourist hehe. The views are so spectacular- well worth a visit! The following day we mosied around the harbours and town in the sweltering, but bareable heat (around 28-30C). We had a short (but definately no sweet) walk around the botanical gardens until I had a fit after seeing the BIGGEST spiders ever! THey litterally surrounded us and we couldn't escape! I aptly burst intoa fit of hysteria and tears and GOT THE HELL OUT OF THERE!!! We then set off on a ferry to Manly to visit Nadia and Al (Matt and Joe's family friends who are lucky enough to live there!) Manly was beautiful with sandy beaches and a lovely harbour. We went for a drink on the seafront and then for some more drinks at their house (gorgeous little, modern house) and then bought some $5 (!) bottles of wine! (WOW!) Bern you would've been very proud! And then onto a restaurant to eat as much meat as physically possible- oh yeah! God knows how... but Nadia put us all to shame and consumed the most! We then got the last ferry back to the hotel.
The following day we met DLo on the steps of the Opera House - very surreal! We visited the Aquarium which was amazing! We saw Nemo, sharks etc! joe and I then toook a tour in the Opera House which was magnificent! They told you all about the history, architecture etc. The views are incredible and the design/deco is so impressive! I have made it one of my lifes aims to go and see a show and go to a party in one of its AMAZING bars!
Following day we visited Bondi Beach for a sunbath... met DLo there too. And then did a fantastic coastal walk (which Joe had been told about) you have never seen so many fit/toned/gorgeous people! We then met Nadia, aL and DLo for drinks overlooking the Harbour bridge and dinner. We had such a great time!!! Matt and I are going to go back to Sydney for a few days as we loved it so much!
