YOWSA! We arrived in a sweltering Adelaide with temperatures of 40C! It was sooo hot but it was a dry heat so luckily not too many sweat makrs (phew). The lovely air-conditioned Holiday Inn was such a relief and SUCH a luxury! The hotel had a lovely pool and spa which was perfect for such heat. Matt and I arrived with hangovers... and after getting up at 4am (eek!) we weren't feeling nor looking our best! We mosied around the lovely town (very different to sydney's hustle and bustle) and then chilled out in the pool until Joe joined us alter that afternoon (after a delay! grr). We then went for a lovely Thai meal.
The following day we went to Glenelg beach for the day which was lovely and very hot! The sea was freezing though, but what a welcome relief!
The next day we looked around the shops, relaxed by the pool and went to the Fringe Festival in the evening. The Fringe was brilliant, although most of the shows were either too expensive or booked out. Instead we watched a couple of street performers, had a few drinks and wandered around. The park it was in was decorated beautifully!
The following day we once again mosied around, went for breakfast (at a pancake parlour!) joe and I went to Adelaides Art Gallery which was amazing... rather amusing as the Ozzies think art work which is 100 years old is really old! As they are such a new country, in terms of the 'whites' arriving they think things are really old, but to us they aren't at all! Later that night we went for a ffab meal at a restaurant a friend recommended to Joe. Afterwards we went to see the 'City of Lights' which was amazing! There are 'light shows' on buildings (museum, gallery, university etc) decorating them with patterns, colours and objects, really cool.
Our last day in Adelaide we wandered around the spectacular Botanic Gardens and then went back to Glenelg beach (Joe was desperate to grab as much sun as poss... although we quite enjoyed the fact that he glowed in the dark hehe). We had fish and chips whilst watching the sunset... beautiful.
