We flew in to Melbourne on Tuesday 11th, all very excited about it as everyone raves about it, preferring it to Sydney. As brilliant as it is it doesn't top the amazing sights of Sydney! We went for dinner in China Town and planned the next few days...
We spent most of Weds exploring the Melbourne Museum... it is fascinating and very big! It had all about the aboriginals, how the whites claimed all their land etc. It also had about all the animals and bugs (ARGH) in Oz... with live bugs and SPIDERS GRRR! It had a section on the body... with an actual REAL pickled hand! Also had a section on the 'mind' very interesting and you could test your stress factor (I was a wee bit higher than the boys... oops). Early evening I left the lads (a welcome relief for us all hehe) and met my uni friend Cat eho is living out here. I was so excited to see her and we had a good catch up and of course a few tipples.
Following day we wandered around and the lads went off to the MCG Cricket Ground whilst I took a bus tour around the city and visted the Queen Vic (market not pub!) After that we all met at the tallest building and went up to the Observation Deck. The views were exceptional, if a bit 'dizzying' eek.
Friday was Joe's last day so what do you think he wanted to do??? BEACH! hehe. We visited St Kilda Beach which was lovely but a bit too hot... Melbourne is rather more a 'sweaty betty' heat. Unfortunately Joe ended up blistering his nose (Matt and I did not find this even a little bit funny, YEAH RIGHT HAHAHA!) BLess him, I packed him on his flight armed with a tube of Aloe vera and a tube of moisturiser...
All in all our 2 week trip with Joe was fantastic, cramming in as much as poss! Matt and I are back to reality now and off to find a grungy hostel somewhere on the Gold Coast... wish us luck hehe...
