After another long bus journey we arrived early at Tweed Heads to stay with Jo's Auntie & Uncle (Bill & Laura). They had gone to a place called Draculas the previous night and had two spare tickets for the following night so we decided to spend our first night there not really knowing what to expect. After being briefed on the way in, you go into a themed bar, then there is a ghost train into the theatre where you are seated at tables for dinner. We were sat with other couples and met some nice people from perth who were holidaying here. Our Draculi (waiter) was called 'Fabulous' - a gay model who kept asking us what we wanted to suck on - we think he meant 'what do you want to drink'! He was very good at pursuading you to buy buckets and bottles rather than glasses and who could argue with a 6'4" transvestite.
The show was amazing, loads of comedy, music and magic but unfortunatly no photography was allowed. All of the actors were so talented and so well made up. We can't really explain the experience but checkout the website - http://www.draculas.com.au/goldcoast_queensland/index.asp Definatley worth a vist if you come to Queensland!
The next day was Cristmas eve. We spent the night with Bill & Laura's friends. Lots of good food, drink and fun which was a great way to see in Christmas day. We were made to feel so welcome by everyone there. They never wanted to see us with an empty glass which was good!
After struggling to get up, we opened some presents and went out for lunch to another friends house. Not a turkey in sight - loads of seafood and snacks and yes more champagne. We chilled out there that afternoon before going straight on to another friends house for dinner - this time the hostess was english so enjoyed a traditional roast. Strangely we didn't feel too homesick and spoke to the rents back home which was nice. Nothing beats Christmas at home tho!
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
