Our last day in Cuzco and altough we had spent alot of time here we hadn't really done alot of the tourist stuff so we decided to put this right. First stop was the Inca museum, lots of old relics, pottery, skulls etc etc....all very interesting..kind of.....
Felling far more cultured we then decided to visit some Inca ruins situated an easy 20 minute walk away, up hill of course. Huge stone battlements which were despite being stone battlements very impressive. It only led us both to feel that the Inca's were either very stupid in some ways or extremely unlucky to have been beaten by a handful of dago's given their defenses and superior numbers...50 Spaniards on horses and somehow beaten several thousand Incas in a big battle here...must have been very big horses..Despite the historic significance of these ruins for Hayley it was one ruin too many and a sit down protest was the result!
In the evening we wondered through the wonderful cobbled streets of Cusco and added to our art collection with two paintings that were again too cheap to believe..
A 4am start awaited us for our early morning flight to Lima so we had a relatively early night.
Cuzsco had proved to be a wonderful place despite its obvious touristy feel and it was sad to be leaving such a lovely part of the world.
