This is a short blog entry-

We are in Arequipa. a beautiful city in the Andes. We arrived yesterday morning after an overnight bus journey from Nazca. Arequipa is at about 2500 metres above sea level and the air is thin. It has taken some getting used to, you feel short of breath very easily, tired and yet it is difficult to sleep...a bit like Vegas Casino?s...Anyway it is late right now and tomorrow morning we are going on a three day two night trek around the Colca canyon and so will be out of touch for a while. To my Mum and Christine, all is well please don?t worry and we will report in as soon as we are back in civilisation.

The trek takes us to over 5000 metres 'we should see Condors flying over the Andes and then we hike down to the bottom of Colca Canyon. Hayley will be staying in a tent for the first time in 33 years...and she is looking forward to it..i think anyway.

Mum your messages really make me laugh, after two weeks i am glad you have worked out the website!!! I ate Alpaca tonight which is a bit like llama..very tasty expecially with stir fried vegatables... As you can see from the photo i have been able to sleep most places!.
