OMG!! Russia is just what we thought it would be. Historic and Cold! Bitterly cold! It was supposed to be into the spring thaw here but the tour guide has told us that it never snows here at this time of year, that we are so lucky because not only is it snowing, but it not too busy with tourists. Usually it is super busy in the museums in summer or too
'cold' and snowy to get around in the winter. Yesterday it was still -1 at 9.30am!
We had practically no sleep on the way over then sucked it up to go out on tour today, but a very long sleep is on the cards.

What a pleasant surprise!
We are being treated to the full Russian experience, non English speaking cabbie, snowing and freaking cold!
Ok, -1 might obviously be cold, but our thermals and jackets barely did the job, it goes to show how resilient the Russians are by enduring -30 degree winters.
Saint Petersburg is a very pretty city with wide streets and canals modelled on Amsterdams layout and, umm, there are small icebergs floating down the river with birds sitting on them!
It snowed all day on and off which was unexpected but welcome as it really is what I expected Russia to be like.
We went to the Hermitage museum which was massive! We only saw the highlights though, which included Renoir, Matisse, de Vinci, van gogh, Monet and more. I think we only saw half of the museum though, it's that big!
Sleepy time now.
