Mary's Travels
We slept in today and had an assortment of pastries for breakfast. Then I did some homework until lunchtime. Anne made us pasta with the leftover BBQ from last night. It was very delicious, but very filling. After that, we just kind of hung out and did our nails until it was time to leave for a BBQ at Sarah's family's house. We picked up Laure at the caleche and arrived even before Sarah and Marie. They showed us around until dinner was ready. Their house was very cute and they had a nice big front yard to hang out in. A couple of years ago, a plane dropped some cargo in the area, and part of that cargo was a bunch of parakeets. They made the new location work, so you often see green birds flying around the yard. Jean loved it- he's a bird fanatic. For dinner there were hamburgers and fries. Classic America. There was so much food. Everyone was very nice and hospitable. Between dinner and the cheese platter, we danced a lot on the patio. Marie's older brother and his girlfriend showed off their moves and Sarah and I tried to imitate. We need some time to practice. The cheese came and it was delicious, and afterwards, we moved our dance party inside where there were less mosquitos and more warmth (we were in sweaters). Then dessert came- chocolate mouse made by Marie, and Anne's famous carrot cake. The French were a little hesitant to try the vegetable-sounding cake, but they loved it as much as the mouse. When we were all finished, we played Just Dance on the Wii until it was time to go. It was a great party and we had a lot of fun. I had to say goodbye to Sarah for a week since she'll be in Paris until I leave for Collioure. It'll be weird to be away from her for so long, but I guess we have to grow up sometime. There was a lot of traffic on the way home due to construction- something we hadn't anticipated for 11:30 at night. We got home close to 1:00am, and I decided to take a late night shower since I didn't think I'd be able to get up super early in the morning.
