Hey Everyone,
It's been little while since the last post because time is FLYING BY. We've done a lot since the last post so I will try to recap on some of the things I've missed.
We have continued the sports camps and some of us have really developed a pretty awesome friendship with these kids. They're a lot of fun to play with and always excited to see the "gringos." We've taught them new sports, competed in soccer, and explored the culture of just being a kid in Costa Rica. Each trip to see them has been an eye-opening experience that teaches a lot more than any classroom could.
I've kept busy with a new hobby here in Costa Rica- journalism. I've taken the pseudonym of Paco Chotto. Chotto is the last name of the family I have stayed with here in Costa Rica. The name took concrete form when I created my joke press pass to use at the Arba basketball games during the post season. The persona took of. I am always in character now when I go to the games, with my FlipCam and computer ready to capture the game and atmoshpere in the arena. I've made videos and updates for the team which has been a lot of fun. Additionally, the team is doing really well, they will play for the championship in the third game of a best-of-3 series Sunday afternoon. This team has never made it to the finals before and is playing against the 6-time defending champion. Should be an electric crowd.
Numbers are dwindling as more and more students from Beyond Study Abroad are returning home to the States. The relationships that I formed with them were awesome for the short period of time we had together. Consider this as the official shoutout to any of the fellow students who participated in the program at the same time as me: I loved getting to know everyone. Know it remains Heather Kuch and I for now until my return next week. I'm still training in the gym and exploring the country little by little. Hopefully, Puerto Viejo is in the cards before I leave for the States. Tal vez.
Anyways, everyone has been talking about home quite a bit, so I am definitely ready to be back, but not quite yet. Casi Casi. Miss everyone from home.
