Agra
Taj is more fabulous in person than one can imagine. We experienced rain a few days leading up to Agra and it was suppose to be socked in. We were disappointed that this special day the weather would not cooperate. Believe it or not, I woke up around 6:00am looked outside disheartened-it was overcast but not raining. The Taj will look like part of the sky. When we arrived around 8:00am the sky brightened and low and behold there was blue sky - well as blue as a major city in India would allow. It was magically - and beyond words.
Our drive back to Delhi was also beyond words. 200KM, we left at 2:30, one quick bio break and arrived in Delhi 6.5 hours later. Words can not describe the horrendous traffic - I will never complain about traffic at home again. It took 1.5 hours just to get out of Agra - the "highway" was a narrow street lined with shop keepers - shoppers, parked vehicles...you name it, it was there. Outside of Agra was even worse - it took about 30 mins to travel ~3KM - the two lane (I think it was 2) turned into about 6 lanes - motorbikes, rickshaws, tractors, people, tuk tuks and the odd car took to the muddy lane side of the road - large buses & trucks, us and the more patient stayed on the road. Some of the vehicles were cramed with people - the local transport consists of jeeps, tuk tuks, rickshaws, tractors with a flat bed thing a my chiggy - there must have been about 12 people in one of the larger Tuk Tuks - I did feel guilty as we had a mini bus about 4 times larger with 11 people.
