On the 30th of December 2007, David and I arrived at Sydney airport and were greeted by a banner reading "G'day Steadmans", held aloft by our parents who had jumped the railings to meet us. Of course we did the obligatory airport-style hug and kiss routine (a handshake sufficing for the men...ahem), not having seen either parent since they began their world tour in November.A fifteen minute taxi ride took us to the house our parents had rented for their time in Sydney, and we were finally able to relax, after having traveled for three days (including a 36hr stop-off in Singapore). After catching up with a coffee and some crap Australian telly, we took a short walk through some of Sydney's shops and markets, then on to the famous Bondi beach, where we both got fried to an absolute crisp! Bondi is a reasonable beach, quite picturesque but nothing gobsmacking, but it was a gorgeous day and it was great to soak up some sun and enjoy the heat without Singapore's humidity.
We got back to the house and, after nursing our sunburn sat down to some more crap telly and to enjoy the first part of our dad's Christmas present, the Bourne trilogy on DVD before drifting off to the beds that had been calling us for the last 20 hours!
