We progressed down the coast to Tin Can Bay, only for an over nighter after we found that there were lots of middies and sand flies. We spent most of the time in the pool so no problem.next it was off in the direction of Yabba creek, via Gympie, pretty much west of Yandina (home of the Spirit House)
Very ,very hot and no swimming in the creek. There is a great boardwalk through the rainforest there, found that we had to carry Comet due to stinging leaves that are all over the boardwalk, and are still active even when very dead looking.
Off again with a stunning drive through to Maleny, the lookouts were a bit of a letdown due to recent fires, would have been spectacular views of the Glasshouse Mtns on a clear day. Drove on to stay at Dayboro Showgrounds for a night before heading into Brisbane to visit the Owens, we don't get to see them often enough. Great time there as always, many laughs...... And amazing to see Tilly as an adult, where did that time go.
We are on the move again towards the Border Ranges, some of the lushest country we have. Out through Rathdownie and across the Border into the home State.Stayed at Lynchs Creek, a old schoolhouse set down by a babbling creek, we set up just before the heavens opened up.
Next morning was the meandering drive through the back of Nimbin, Channon, Dunoon and then into one of our favourite shopping haunts, Bangalow. Quick lap of the Main Street then off to tick the last extremity off our list- the most Easterly point, Byron Lighthouse. We had the camper attached,so parking was a fair distance away, so we trotted off with dog in tow........ Only to reach the top and the parking attendant said " no dogs sorry" ...... Well I wished that sign was prominent where we left the car. So there are no photos of all of us together at the top, but we did all get there.
We were never going to stay in Byron so we progressed again towards Evans Head, what a great spot we were given, best there is ,camper positioned 5 metres back from rivers edge and Comet is loving the fishing.
Spencer's Birthday today and he said "what a great place to have it" we will take him out for a dinner at the Bowlo tonight.
