Arrived in Melbourne in the early hours and made the trip to the seaside suburb of St. Kilda using the tram system. After not a great amount of sleep on the night bus I was ready for a nap, unfortunately I had to wait to the afternoon. Rather than sit around just feeling tired I hired a bike and went cycling around Melbourne with a fellow backpacker I met in the hostel. Cycling around was a great way to see the city.
In the evening I found some travelers who wanted to visit the Great Ocean Road (a costal road from Melbourne to Adelaide). We hired a car and set off relavitely early in the morning. The English drivers were nominated to drive as the fellow passengers didn't want to drive on the 'wrong side of the road'. The car we ended up with was a huge Ford with a 3.6l V8 engine and automatic, which made for some very lazy driving. The coastal road was amazing and scenic. Our timing was perfect to get sunset over the rocks in the sea called the Twelve Apostles.
That evening once we had returned to Melbourne after 500km of driving I met some guys I had met in Thailand. They showed me Melbourne the following day and was great just to relax. Another night bus back to Sydney sees me here once again. Tomorrow I am off on my Surf Camp up to Byron Bay...
