Bula! Arrived in Fiji after flying via Auckland for a short few hours to yet another warm country. The airport was very hectic and then got a taxi to the hostel. I stayed by the pool for a couple of days until my trip around the mainland started. The trip around the mainland was busy and involved constantly moving. The tour guide was a little crazy but was good fun. I experienced some Fijian villages and many coconut bowls of Kava (a root found in Fiji that is mashed up and added to water, and doesn't taste particularly good). I visited the jungle and did some tubing down the river and then some hiking through it. There were some incredible sunsets on the south of the island. On the last day we went to some mudbaths and thermal baths. The mud stank but apparently it was good for the skin. I wasn't convienced but worth a try anyways. After 4 busy days we returned to Nadi and then I had one more night there.
After this I headed to Mana Island for 5 days, where life was in stark contrast to the rush around Viti Levu. I did a dive course on the island, which allows me to dive to 30m. The feeling that deep is slightly like being drunk. I also visited a wreck which was brilliant and was able to swim through the captain's deck. On the other dives saw some reek sharks and fairly large squid. Apart from that I walked around the island and generally lazed around the beach. I am now back on the mainland and will be off tomorrow to do some proper island hopping for a week...
