Finally left Bangkok for Sydney on a night flight. I was very lucky and managed to get 3 seats together, which meant I was able to sleep. Saying that arriving in Syndey at midday I was still pretty spaced out. The customs in Australia are very strict when it comes to food, drinks, mud, soil etc. My muddy boots had to be washed and had to empty my whole bag. Finally got into Australia and then off to Sydney. I arrived and it was 19 degrees, which after 30 degrees and 90% humidity was a nice welcome. The hostel I was staying at was nice and Syndey was a welcome break from the hussle and bussle of Bangkok. Sydney is lovely, even if the Ozzies think it is too busy.
The weather was great. Visited Bondi beach and went swimming. The sea temperature was a barmy 20 degrees, even so there was only two of us in the sea without any wetsuits on. I went to visit the Blue Mountains (so called as the eucalyptus trees give off a blue haze). It was stunning and only a few hours away from Sydney. It was a great walk along the edge of the cliffs. Although the town where you get off feels very isolated and the mullets are a sign of that. After a day in the moutains it was a day going to another beach. This time using the ferry from Sydney Opera House to Manly Beach. The beaches here are amazing and you can imagine that everyone uses them in the Summer months.
Another flight has taken me over to Perth (the most isolated City in the world). The 5 1/2 hour flight just showing how vast Australia actually is. Off to the beach again today...
