Island hopping in Fiji was good with great weather, but not much occurred apart from seeing most of the realty tv shows' sets. Back to the mainland and then off to New Zealand. Arriving in Auckland was like being back in Australia, with similiar design to the city and all the same shops. It was great to relax there and catch up with some friends I had met traveling in Australia. I stayed at the school they worked in the surburbs of Auckland, but weird going back to school especially as an older person. Same old school food though.
I then met some more friends from Fiji and joined them in their camper van heading to the North of the North Island. Luckily the weather changed and we managed to get some time by the beach, unfortunately no surfing as the swell was poor and the waves were little. After a few days with them it was time to go back to Auckland to fly to Christchurch.
I'm now in Christchurch and have caught up with a uni friend who is traveling for 12 months. It has been nice to chat to someone without all the usual traveller's questions i.e. Where you from, Where have you been... Christchurch apparently is the most 'English' city in New Zealand. They have punting and the schools here seem all copied from the likes of Eton and Harrow. Tomorrow I will be starting my bus tour and hopefully some adventure activities...
